Hello Barry,
I believe that the league is heavier on goals than anything else. Goals are an important part of hockey but to be honest in a fantasy league shouldn't it be more equal. For example we have one category for assists, and three for goals. (shorthanded, power play, and even strength) My proposal for next year would be to change the power play goals and shorthanded goals category into power play points and shorthanded points. If that is implemented I feel it will equal out the categories well also raising the value of certain players like Mikko Koivu for example. Koivu is a 60 point player in the NHL. He plays on the first line even strength and power play but he assists 49 of those 60 points. He may only score 2 power play goals but he had 9 or so power play assists that don't count as anything more than 9 assists. Now take Marian Gaborik for example. Gaborik scores 40 plus goals so he is worth a significant amount more in the OOHL than Koivu but in the NHL they are ruffly the same in value. So if we changed the rule to it being power play points and shorthanded points it would raise Koivu's overall value to the amount that the actual NHL values him at and equal to that of Gaborik, increasing the realism of the league. This is just an idea of mine, i would like to hear your thoughts on the subject. Thank you.
