We should add the following rule change. Any team that releases, drops, or waives a player with a salary of $20 or more once the season has begun, will lose half that player's salary from their $200 salary cap for the rest of the season, including playoffs. Example, if I drop Getzlaf at $26, I would lose 1/2 his salary for the rest of the season, $13, meaning I could not go over $187. I've based it on dumping a long-term contract where you lose half his salary until that player is claimed. I set $20 as the mark because there are currently 33 such contracts in our league, so an average of only 2 per team, which is not onerous. Big-salaried guys being dumped, and they are absolutely salary dumps, to someone else for $5 waters down the league. If you've made the big-bucks bid to get a guy, either ride out your decision or pay the penalty. Talk amongst yourselves.
